NuEdg's proprietary ceramic resin coating preserves the sound and shape of the design. You can actually feel and hear the difference as the lug tension rods adjust.

NuEdg Wood Ceramic Resin Replaceable Drum Edges offer a "bridge" of many different sound and tonal timbre possibilities as it gives the drummer choices between a variety of bearing edge profiles which manipulates drum head tension points of area, and allows the player to choose and experiment with different material thicknesses of the replaceable edge as well. With a comprehensive variety of NuEdg Wood Edges, the drummer or artisan may also choose between different ply drum thicknesses along with different Shell/Edge combinations.

The ceramic coating is...

- A coating which preserves the shape and sound (under normal use of a full flange hoop) of the edge profile
- Allows the drum head material to transfer (travel) over the edge with less material friction and material drag
- Not a contact (beatable) edge (a full contact edge material compound is under development)

With all of our communication with drummers and drum builders, one issue that comes up on occasion is the polishing, buffing or waxing of the edge in order to make it less susceptible to material sticking or lag over the edge, which can result in the drum head clicking or popping during the tuning up process. Polishing or waxing may even worsen the problem under temperature extremes, and applying a lubricant can swell or damage the wood.
Nu'Edg ceramic coating allows less material friction between the edge and the drum head during the tuning process and seals the wood from the elements to allow consistent tension transfer.

NuEdg Wood Ceramic Edges are offered in three different ply thicknesses: 15-ply (Phat Krack), 12-ply, and 10-ply.
